Explain online play please

If anyone can answer this, it would be much appreciated. So this game is 8 player online. will we be on a team or can we fight. Is it known yet how team questing will work? Will we be able to jump in and out of quests or will it just be a matter of one of your 7 friends saying go here and help me kill this mudcrab?

MMO in towns, 8 player co-op on quests. Kind of like PSU only WAY better.
