Multiplayer?

I think a year or so back the devs posted about working on a multiplayer feature, but I have never seen it since. Was it scrapped? :|

Q: Will this title offer multiplayer gaming?

Pavel: Initially we had some plans for this and almost final code but our internal testing determined that purely aerial combat in its current form was not as exciting as we�d like it to be, so we had to remove it and will try to get back to the drawing board in a sequel, perhaps.

I wouldn't be surprised if a LOT was cut out of the final game... I'm thinking strong RTS influences.. as well as controlling many more individual units.
